What To Expect When You Contact the SafeNest Hotline

Your decision to reach out for help is the first step towards independence. Your call to the SafeNest 24/7 Hotline is completely free and it’s up to you how much personal information you divulge. Our trained advocates will:

  • Provide a safe, judgment-free place to talk.
  • Assist in determining whether you or someone you know is being abused verbally, sexually, physically, financially or digitally.
  • Help create a safety plan so you will be safe and prepared if or when you decide to do so.
  • Provide information about shelter services, including intake procedures if needed.
  • Guide you through legal options.
  • Provide access to SafeNest resources and services.
  • Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs)

Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs) are special protection orders if the abusive party is currently in police custody for domestic violence. ETPOs are available through our hotline, processed over the phone by an advocate and then transmitted to a judge for approval. The abusive party is then served with the order prior to being released from the mandatory 12-hour domestic-battery cell hold.
