Call the SafeNest domestic violence hotline number anytime—day or night. We’re here to support you without judgment, pressure, or expectations.
What to Expect When You Call
Making the first call is often the hardest part. Whether you’re calling for yourself or someone you care about, here’s what you can expect from your conversation with a SafeNest advocate:
A Safe, Compassionate Space to Speak Freely: We are here to listen, not to judge. You can speak as little or as much as you like.
Personalized Safety Planning: If you’re in danger, our advocates will work with you to develop a safety plan tailored to your situation. These plans can include strategies for safely staying, leaving, or preparing for the future.
Help Understanding Abuse: Abuse comes in many forms—physical, verbal, emotional, financial, sexual, and digital. If you’re unsure whether what you’re experiencing is abuse, we can help you assess your situation.
Emergency Shelter Access: If you’re in immediate danger and need a safe place to stay, we can assist with emergency shelter arrangements through SafeNest’s secure facilities.
Legal Guidance and ETPOs: If legal protection is needed, our advocates can help you understand your options and assist with Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs) over the phone.
Local Resources and Referrals: We can connect you to counseling, legal aid, transportation, child services, and other community-based support systems.
Our trained advocates walk beside you, offering tools and knowledge so you can make empowered decisions about your safety, health, and future.
Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs)
One of the unique features of our domestic violence hotline is the ability to initiate Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs). These orders provide legal protection in urgent situations where the abuser is in police custody for domestic violence.
Here’s how it works:
You or a responding officer can call our hotline to request an ETPO.
A trained SafeNest advocate will gather the necessary information and transmit the request to a judge.
Once approved, the ETPO is delivered to the abuser before they are released from the mandatory 12-hour jail hold.
This fast, streamlined process helps victims stay protected when it matters most—before the perpetrator is back in the community.
Trauma-Informed, Survivor-Centered Support
At SafeNest, we believe that healing begins with understanding and support. All of our hotline advocates are trained in trauma-informed care, meaning they recognize the impact of trauma and respond with empathy, patience, and sensitivity.
Whether you are experiencing domestic violence, recovering from sexual assault, or trying to escape human trafficking, we will never rush or pressure you. Your safety, comfort, and decisions are at the center of every call.
You Don’t Have to Be Ready to Leave
One of the biggest misconceptions about calling a domestic violence hotline number is that you must be ready to leave the relationship. That’s not true. Many of our callers simply want someone to talk to. Others are seeking education, preparing a safety plan, or exploring resources.
You can call us once or a hundred times. There’s no wrong time to reach out.
If you’re unsure about your next step, let us help you sort through your options. If you’re afraid for your children, we can talk through that, too. No matter what your concerns are, they are valid, and you deserve to be heard.
Bilingual Support and Accessibility
SafeNest provides bilingual support in English and Spanish. Our domestic violence hotline is also accessible to callers with disabilities, and we can provide interpreter services for additional languages upon request.
We are committed to ensuring that anyone in need can access support, regardless of language or background.
Who Can Call?
The SafeNest hotline is for:
- Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking
- Friends, family members, and concerned neighbors
- Law enforcement officers and social workers seeking immediate support for clients
- Youth and adults of all genders and sexual identities
If you’re unsure whether it’s “bad enough” to call—call anyway. Abuse often escalates over time, and your concerns are always worth exploring.
Why the Hotline Matters
Domestic and sexual violence are forms of hidden violence—often happening behind closed doors and hidden from view. Survivors may feel trapped, ashamed, afraid, or unsure where to turn.
The SafeNest domestic violence hotline exists to break that silence and offer a lifeline. In a world where survivors are often isolated, a single phone call can change everything.
