Nevada’s First VOICES Cohort

SafeNest is proud to introduce Nevada’s first VOICES Cohort, a groundbreaking program elevating survivor leadership to end domestic and sexual violence. The inaugural VOICES cohort is comprised of survivors and a former abusive partner who will use their lived experiences to drive advocacy, education, and community empowerment across Clark County and beyond.

Their unique perspectives are critical in reaching individuals who may still be living in abusive situations and searching for a path forward, especially those who may not yet be aware of the comprehensive support and services available through SafeNest.

The SafeNest VOICES program is affiliated with the Alliance for HOPE International, a national network of survivor advocates dedicated to supporting victims in crisis, educating the public about family violence and sexual assault, and strengthening Family Justice Centers nationwide—including SafeNest’s One Safe Place, Nevada’s first affiliated Family Justice Center campus opening in October 2026.

“Your current circumstance does not define your story—it’s just one chapter in it. Domestic violence shows up in many forms, often unseen, but it cannot take away your strength or your future. We all have something to live for. I trust the next chapter of my life because I know who the Author is.”

Jessica’s Message to Survivors:
“This can and does happen to people from all walks of life, regardless of education, appearance, ability, or position. It is unfair, but it does not have to continue. It may feel like you are alone and that leaving would be much harder than staying. But the truth is, your situation will only get worse. Although leaving is unbelievably hard, healing and growth do come, and every day you are gone is a brighter day, no matter what else happens. Finally, I want to remind you that finding a safe place is more than just a place to hide. It is a place to breathe, to let your senses return, and to see the world clearly. And if a safe place feels out of reach, keep looking, and don’t stop until you find one.”

Why I joined VOICES:

Growing up, I witnessed my own mother being abused by multiple men. Then, repeating the cycle, I was in abusive relationships. I always knew I wanted to give back through volunteering in the domestic violence space. I’m grateful to be here.
