Every aspect of SafeNest’s emergency domestic violence shelter is designed to help survivors rebuild a sense of control, dignity, and self-worth.

Family-Centered Support

SafeNest recognizes that domestic violence affects entire families, including children and pets. That’s why our emergency shelter for families is structured to create a nurturing environment for all members of the household.

For children:

We provide a safe, stable setting where kids can attend school, participate in playroom activities, and engage in supervised programs that promote healing and emotional growth. We offer therapy and counseling to help children process their experiences and begin to feel safe again.

For parents:

Our team offers parenting support, family therapy, and classes that strengthen parent-child relationships after trauma. We understand that rebuilding trust and stability takes time, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

For pets:

No one should have to choose between safety and their beloved animal companion. SafeNest offers on-site pet boarding facilities for dogs and cats, and when space is limited, we work with volunteer foster programs and local veterinarians to ensure pets are cared for securely.

Confidentiality and Safety First

Safety and confidentiality are at the core of everything we do. Our shelter’s location remains undisclosed, and all guests are expected to keep this information private.

For the protection of everyone staying in the shelter, visitors are not permitted. This ensures the safety of all residents and maintains the integrity of our secure environment.

We also take measures to protect digital privacy. Phones for emergency calls are accessible within the facility, and computers are available in designated areas for essential communication and resource access.

The Intake Process

When you first arrive, we know you may be exhausted, scared, or overwhelmed. You won’t be asked to make major decisions right away. The first two days of your stay are reserved for rest and recovery.

After that, an advocate will walk you through the intake process, helping you complete necessary paperwork and explaining your rights and available services. You will never be pressured into any program or decision — you control your own path forward.

From there, your advocate will work with you to create a personalized plan focused on your safety, healing, and long-term stability. Whether that means pursuing legal protection, finding new housing, or rebuilding financial independence, we are by your side throughout the process.

Empowering Survivors Toward Independence

SafeNest is more than an emergency domestic violence shelter — it’s a launchpad for a new beginning. We empower survivors with the tools and support needed to transition from crisis to confidence.

When you’re ready, we can assist with:

  • Applying for transitional or permanent housing
  • Enrolling in job training and employment programs
  • Accessing childcare resources
  • Continuing therapy and emotional wellness programs
  • Reconnecting with community services that promote long-term stability

We believe survivors are the experts of their own lives. Our role is to provide safety, advocacy, and encouragement so that you can make empowered decisions for your future.
